Michael Sothen

Michael Sothen (Chief Financial Officer) is responsible for NSD’s financial reporting, accounting information systems, and internal controls, taxation, human resources, financial operations, and customer service for invoicing and billing collections. Michael also serves as a trusted business partner to the executive team by managing the budget process and formal business plan and by collaboratively working with the team to streamline and automate processes and procedures across the organization. Michael has over 25 years of experience in financial operations including 8 years in public accounting as an Audit and Tax Manager and 9 years of experience in the insurance industry at Brown and Brown, Inc. serving as the Senior Finance Director for Brown and Brown’s Services, National Programs, and Retail Divisions. Michael earned his Masters of Accounting Degree at Florida Atlantic University and served as an adjunct professor for both Palm Beach Atlantic University and Florida Atlantic University for over 10 years teaching various undergraduate accounting courses. Michael has a proven track record for building teams, implementing, and automating systems, and for recruiting, training, and enhancing teammates. Michael strives to build a team of skilled business partners to enable NSD’s Finance Department to serve as an elite service department to all NSD key stakeholders.
